The First team.
Lost 43~5.
Our try was scored by Tom Davies.
The game started with an Old Reds 7-pointer on ten minutes, then on twenty-seven minutes after a driving maul we scored through Tom Davies,7~5.
Not until thirty-eight minutes did they get another seven-pointer, to end the half at 14 ~5.

It looks like we defended really well in the first half to keep the score to 7~5 until a couple of minutes before halftime.
They ran away with it in the second half.
The Man of the Match was Bertie Fordham.

The Second team v Plymouth Argaum. League.

On a rather hot and largely windless afternoon, we took on Argaum in the league, we are second in the table and they are mid-table.
In the end, it was an easy win but we did make hard work of it and allowed Argaum to take the game to us at times.
They had a strong last quarter.

in the first five minutes, Leighton Stark missed a penalty he would have normally kicked without problem, the ball looked to be going wide but curved in at the last moment and dipped under the bar.
We started scoring with a Luke Stannard try on ten minutes.
From a scrum just in our half to them they were penalised for pushing early, we tapped and went, the ball through about three hands on the left wing lastly to Luke Stannard who went in under the crossbar. Leighton Stark converted. 7~0.
On eighteen minutes Argaum started scoring, from a penalty they kicked for a close in lineout, won it and fairly easily drove over for Tom Mann to score. Conversion missed. 7~5.
On twenty-two minutes we scored our second, they kicked out of defence but it was charged down by Khane Taylor-Young, the ball bobbled towards their line, and he followed it up, taking care and time to let it stop bobbling before picking it up, to avoid knocking it on, he did catch it and scored. Leighton Stark converted. 14~5.
On twenty-eight minutes we got a lineout near our line after we tackled their winger in to touch. The throw was taken and dropped to Billy Sutton, he did a longish pass to Tom West, but their rear of the line player went to intercept it but ended up knocking on over the line.
We had the scrum, we held it easily and turned them, the ball went to Tom West who started to run it out, it went through four sets of hands then to Massa Tamanikairukuiovaiau who was so fast the defence had no chance of catching him he went in under the crossbar, Leighton Stark converted. 21~5.
Thirty-five minutes and Billy is in the sin bin.
Shortly afterwards Shaun Harrison was yellow-carded for pulling down a maul, so we were now down to thirteen men.
From the scrum, they were slowly pushing us back towards our line and it looked like a try was coming, but the referee said to use it, not sure why because it seemed to be still moving forward, so they put it to the backs, the second pass, if it had been taken would have been a score, but he knocked it on.
Massa Tamanikairukuiovaiau took it and shot off again at incredible speed getting well over the halfway line, a couple more hands then Argaum infringed, we tapped and went and Cam Donking scored under the crossbar, Leighton Stark converted. 28~5.
That was how it stayed till half time.
The packs were just about even though we did start to push them a reasonable distance towards the end of the game. The Argaum lineout was faultless though the throw ins were not always the straightest but they got away with it.
Our backs were much faster and we were making good use of them. Argaum were well involved and got close to our line a few times but our defence was good.
The second half continued in much the same way, early on we scored again on five minutes. They were attacking in our twenty-two and retaining the ball well, but we were in their faces and kept on pushing them back until they were forced over their own ten yard line. We stole the ball and it went to Tom West who ran in to score, with Leighton Stark converting. 35~5.
Then Oli Lane scored, we stole their ball inside their half and sent it towards the clubhouse, the final pass was long and a little wild, they came close to intercepting it but could not quite get their hands on it. Oli Lane managed to get hold of it to shoot in on the left wing, and Leighton Stark converted. 42~5.
It was not looking good for Argaum but, not a team to give up easily they took the game to us, On one occasion there was a scrum to us, the scrum went down and engaged but it suddenly went backwards at speed, we were penalised for pushing early but to me Argaum just didn’t take the pressure, not intentionally but were just caught off balance and so went back, it was far too fast for it to be us simply stronger than them.
Anyway, that aside. Argaum then scored two tries and converted one, the tries were scored by Tom Mann and the conversion by Luke McCreath. The kick hit the far side post but bounced over the crossbar. 42~17.
On the half hour, they kicked out, and we fielded the ball just inside our half, Sam Fincham stated the run back at them towards the stand side then back the other way getting to prop Isaiah Akinrowo on the left wing, who must be one of the fasted props in the league, who ran in from just inside their half and in towards the post, one final defender tried to catch him but without success. Leighton Stark converted. 49~17.
Argaum had Eddie McGinley yellow-carded for a deliberate knock-on.
We then scored our last try near to full time. They won a penalty and went for a five-yard lineout but the ball was kicked dead. We took the scrum and ran it out, into their half they nearly intercepted but fortunately for us, they didn’t, Billy Sutton took the final pass and ran in from their twenty-two to score behind the posts. Leighton Stark converted. 56~17.
Elliott Lupson took a nasty blow to the eye, accidental contact in a ruck, there was a pause while he was looked at and after about five minutes he was taken off.
One of the Argaum players, second-row Tom Mann, who is a medical consultant at Derriford, was asked to look at it after the game was over. Thanks, Tom.
Argaum were not out of it and came back with the forwards attacking our line a number of times, first Tom Holiday got over and Luke McCreath converted. 56~ 24, and with it a bonus points and well earned too.
Then one last hurrah by their forwards with Tom Mann scoring their final points.
56~29.

Not long after that, the final whistle went.
A good and well competed for game. Argaum well deserved their bonus point, had they not had great spirit the score could have gone badly for them.
We remain second in the table behind Torquay by a point and Argaum end the weekend in eighth place.

The Nigel Chivel memorial man-of-the-Match was Isiah Akinrowo.
